Placing a Cat at Love & Hope

The decision to give up a pet cat can be heart-wrenching. If you are unable to continue to care for your cat or to provide for your cat in the event of your death, it may be possible, with a donation toward the cat's lifetime of care, for your cat to find a home at Love and Hope Animal Sanctuary.

Before you make the decision, here are some questions to ask yourself to determine whether it’s truly necessary to give up your feline companion.

  • What is the primary reason I am considering giving up my cat?
  • Is there anything I can do to change this circumstance and continue to provide a secure home for my pet?
  • Do I have any friends or relatives who could provide a secure home for my cat?

Should you decide you would like to place your cat at our Sanctuary, we would first want to review your cat's medical records and be assured that your cat will adjust to our cage-free environment. If, in our sole discretion, we agree to accept your cat, we require a $5,000 donation to offset the costs of providing it lifetime care.

If you have a special needs cat, such as one with feline leukemia or feline immunodeficiency virus, if we determine, in our sole discretion, to accept your cat, we require a donation of $7,500 to offset the costs of treating its complex medical needs and to provide it lifetime care.

If you would like to make an arrangement with Love & Hope for the care of your cat after your death, we require a donation of $10,000, subject to the cat being acceptable to us for lifetime care. Such amount can be provided in your will by designating Love and Hope Animal Sanctuary, Inc., a beneficiary of such sum or by designating us as a $10,000 beneficiary of your life insurance.
